CUBA: TRINIDAD

Hola chic@s!

Hi guys!

Today I´m writing from Italy, next Monday is a bank holiday in London and I've taken few days because is still so cold! Today we continue with the guide of Cuba, this time with a municipality that we fell in love with, Trinidad.

After our stay in Havana, we headed to Trinidad on a collective (shared taxi), the trip lasted about 4 hours but it didn´t feel that long as we went in a more modern and air-conditioned car.

When we were getting to Trinidad we knew our stay there was gonna be great. Very different from what we saw in Havana, this was more villagy where the only thing that has changed is that there are taxi drivers in every corner trying to get tourists to take them from one place to another and you can see buses of tourists everywhere.  Otherwise the floors are paved, almost no sidewalks, there are horses everywhere, there is always a man shouting down the street "We have red onions!!" haha selling onions or garlic or potatoes, whatever! And there are only two or three internet points throughout the municipality. What we realised is that because is the most famous city of Sancti Spiritus province, it's full of restaurants (paladares), there was one on every corner, but it did not take away the charm of the town.

The streets were beautiful, the doors were open on the front of the houses and you could see the interiors, the houses were huge with inner courtyards. In a couple of restaurants that we had food there were beds in the living room, intact decoration, vintage furniture, amazing! There was one that had a bathroom that was even bigger than my own room. In one of my photos you can see it.

In Trinidad we were gonna stay 3 nights which became 4 as we really enjoyed the stay there. We stayed with Yoenis, a man who lived with his parents in a big house in Trinidad, Martiza arranged this house too, the lady who found us accommodation in Havana and certainly it did not disappoint, the room was super clean with air conditioning for 25 CUC per night. Yoenis mother, who I cannot remember her name (it was a difficult one haha) prepared us breakfast every morning and even washed our clothes which we appreciated a lot!

We hiked riding to the Valley de los Ingenios, we went "snorkeling" ended up being rather spearfishing! The guy who went fishing was brilliant, as soon as I looked to the other side he had another fish in his hand! Amazing! After two hours in the water he invited us to his house to prepare a barbecue with everything we had fished, it was all very yummy!

And the last day we went to the beautiful beach of Ancon to spend the day.

I hope you like the photos and any questions regarding accommodation or contacts, please feel free to leave it in the comments.

A big kiss and see you next Saturday!
